Ok, I have a 1990 ford E-350. These models do not have a cigarette lighter, however they have that CB hookup on the dash, (the black and red terminals
to screw the wires onto). This hookup is dead when the motor is off. Here is my dilemma. I am trying to hook up a solar battery charger that just simply plugs into the lighter. Does anyone know of another wire that stays hot all the time even when the motor is off? You have to unplug the solar panel when you start the vehicle so I dont want to have to get in the engine bay every time I do just to pull the cables off.
On your vehicle ,about the only thing that stays hot with key off would be a brake light wire or maybe a dome light or something of that nature. If it were me I would just install another cigratte lighter plug and hard wire it directly to battery..
