Okay, i just finished putting in that large filter, boy that is a tight fit around the inlet pipe, anyways when i was removing the OEM air box there was a small, what looked like a sensor of some sort, protruding into the side of the box closest to the firewall. Anybody knows what this is for and what to do with it now that the box is removed? Thanks.
Its a air intake temp sensor it senses the air temp and sends a signal to the pcm. As for my temp sensor, I tied it to the end of the master cylinder as close to the filter as I could get. This way the PCM is getting the most accurate reading of the air going into the filter.
r Yes it is you AIT sensor. It's in the same series of sensors as your EBP. Leave the little plastic sensor plugged into the wires and zip tie it as mentioned above. Rotate the sensor and it comes out of the air box. If you leave the sensor unplugged (on 99.5 & later models) it will disable the EBPV (Exhaust Back Pressure Valve) and eliminate the high idle on cold days.
