If your replacing it and not worried about the one you have on there, use a thick bladed srew driver and mallet and hit it from the bottom up. i am not sure of the technical term, but the shifter is slined on the end, and the shift **** comes with a smoothed out smaller hole. you just tap the shift **** on. it's a bit harder to get it off than on. easy to do though. hope this helps. if you don't want to mess with the screw driver, take a pair of pliers and just twist it until the **** loosens enough to pull off.
