Heys guys. I know it is in here somewhere but really don't have time to look.
I have an 01 f-550 w/7.3 and I want to do the in tank mod as the screens in the pickup keep clogging on the truck that I working on. I will also want to add the inline fuel filter as well. I did see the post on that but as I said I really don't have time to look for the other. Any help with this would be appreciated.
Unless you think its fun to go on a scavenger hunt, get the full kit from ITP. Its complete and very easy to do. make sure you have a spare jack to help you get the tank down, A buddy would be better. I got an old 2x6 across the jack to help support the tank and all went smooth! (DO NOT JACK THE TANK UP OR DOWN RIGHT UNDER THE PICK UP). other than that the instructions are great and you should take about 2hrs

Very good point, there. Some people like to build it themselves, which is how this kit came about in the first place. For me, it was worth it to get the kit from ITP.
Yeah I checked locally for the ST STL tubing and either nobody had it or I had to buy a minimum of three feet and that alone wouldve cost more than the kit from ITP. My kit is in the mail.
Rather than type it all out again, I'll post the link to the thread that I started after I completed the mod on my 550.
I moved the fuel pump to the tank, which IMO is 10x better than all the other solutions available.
It is MUCH easier for a pump to push a fluid under pressure than it is for the same pump to try and pull it toward itself.
Much more efficient to have the pump at the end of the pickup. And it takes less time to do it than trying to modify the entire fuel line from the tank to the pump.
Just move the pump and it's all done.
Why does the pick up screen keep clogging? If I remember correctly, the 550 has a steel tank, as do the vans. I have heard of the tank liner delaminating and causing all sorts of problems on the E series vans. I don't know if this is an issue or not with the 550, but some of the vans guys have the tank boiled out to get rid of the problem.
