So what's it sound like? Does it sound like a lifter? Does it sound like a rod bearing? Do you keep your oil changed every 3000 miles? Who owned the truck before you? If it was driven slow all the time, or only short distances, then sludge could have built up inside the engine. Now that you are driving it the way you do, the sludge could be breaking loose and plugging up a lifter hole every now and then. Either that, or when the heads were pulled to mill them, trash got dropped inside the engine. If it's not a lifter running dry every now and then, it could be your rod bearings are loose, or you could be having some piston slap. How many miles are on your engine? It's kind of tough to tell without more info.

The truck has 280,000 miles on it my father owned it before I and the heads were milled before 20miles were put on the truck. My father drove it fast alot found the speed limiter first week of ownership. I have no clue what it sounds like just a very loud tap. I have taken it to two diff ford dealers and one said piston slap no big deal and the other said wrist pin BIG DEAL. I have a friend who said its a lifter...............I do change the oil every 3000 miles i just switched over to 15-40 from 10-30 to see if it would help but it did not..............PLEASE HELP

To be honest with you, it's nearly impossible to tell what your noise is. Without hearing it, anything is a guess. By what you've said, It could be what either of the two Ford dealers said, or it could be a worn rod bearing. With all the miles on that engine, it's likely that ALL the internals are worn. If I were you, I would pick up a decent engine from a junk yard or wherever, and rebuild it. Keep driving the one you have until it goes, and then replace it with the one you built. Who knows, maybe you won't need the spare for a long time.

If i might make a suggestion if your engine has 280.000miles on it i would go with a single wt oil like 30wt or 40wt preferably 40wt a thicker oil might help a little

Thank you for your responce i will look into both. I have thought on just getting a new engine or just rebuilding the one i have just if i take the engine out i don't have a car. so i will do as you said drive it till it dies.
