They a hidden under the COPS or "coil over plug" style ignition and are deep into the heads. You have to remove the COPS with a 7 or 8mm socket and use a variety of extensions to remove the plugs. Do a search on "plug change" and you should plenty of information to attempt the job yourself. First time took me roughly 2 hours so don't rush yourself....now I can do it in under an hour.
I personally change my plugs every 3 years, they are platinum and Ford recommends every 100k per change (that could have changed now) but I find that is going too long. Make sure you use Motorcraft or Auolite plugs ONLY in these modulars if everything is stock...many have complained about rough running engines using the Bosch and other aftermarket plugs.
