Drive shaft question

Here is a pic of my rear drive shaft going into the tranny. Seems to have alot of the spindle showing, is this normal?

Thanks

It looks like youve twisted the splines once before.

Thats a little too much spline showing for me but it was said in another thread very similar to this one that it would be fine.

Id upgrade but I dont think its a life or death situation

Sorry, currently stock, 78 f 250 4x4. This pic was taking last weekend when I took the bed off the truck. I figure with the bed weight off it should have spit in a little more than normal, Thats why I am asking.
I will have to go wiggle it to see if its lose.

Just went and tried to move it, with it in park it has NO movement up, down, or side to side.

yes the weight of the bed will cause the rear end to sit a fair amount higher and extend the slip joint some. If its the factory drivetrain and d-shaft and you dont have a lift then youre fine. Longer drive shafts are usually necessary with trucks over a 6" lift.
