My bolts look extra crispy... I will have some fun getting them off since they have been there since 1992*...

*Actually they probably took them of when the engine was rebuilt in 2006, a long time ago, and it seems like they're the original bolts.

They're great! I used them on my 460 successfully with long tubes after going through gaskets from several other brands that leaked right off the bat.

Yeah, I'd suggest doing this. Also, it may allow you to get an impact with a extension to some of the bolts which may help get them out if you're afraid of breaking them off. The hammering of the impact will "shock" any rust bond, and should help pull the bolt out.

It sounds as if you probably won't have any issues with only 40k miles on a new engine and manifolds.

Not sure why anyone would have reused rusty original bolts... Seems like it would have been easy enough to order new exhaust manifold bolts while ordering all of the other engine parts during a rebuild.

I can give you a one word answer my friend: Venezuela... But I'll ellaborate, around these parts you can get things done cheaply or costly, when they're done cheaply this usually includes some perks like that one. Mechanics here are usually people without a proper education, shade-tree made into business, and their ethics are usually questionable, if they can get away with it, they'll do it without thinking too much of it, as long as they can keep the truck/car running fairly well, they don't aim for excellence.

Got my package from Summit today. Ordered Thursday night and used ground shipping and it got here this morning. Talk about service.

Also got the gaskets. I am going to hang onto them for now. I am going to try the Percy's gaskets and if for some reason they don't work I will have the Mr.Gasket ones as back-up. Also a surprise was the quality of the gaskets that came with the headers. They actually look like decent gaskets. Nice and thick, fairly soft and have a TON of material around the ports. Thermos Klingersil is the brand. Headers are at the bead blasters right now to be stripped of the cheap paint on them. Gonna paint them with either VHT high heat paint or Rustoleum high heat.

Also went and had my emissions check. Passed with flying colors. Figured I would do it before installing an all new exhaust system.

Replaced my dying moose of a horn with a new set of WOLO horns. They sound cheesy like a new car, but at least I have horns until I can get air horns.

cleaned up the truck with some Dawn and warm water, then put some loctite under the metal bed guard things I have on the top side and put them back in place. started trying to find ways to remove the rust on some frams/crash parts and stripping the green (winter)coat off the frame so I can try to remove the original paint and any rust and get the truck looking better slowly but surely...also started looking for new rubbers...going to need 4 so will be posting some questions abotu wheels here shortly in my trucks thread...

Yesterday I put the load blocks back under the leaf Springs, the previous owner took them out to lower it. Why would anyone lower a 4x4 is beyond me. Today I'm going to replace the front wheel bearings.
