Hi all I', new to posting here have been reading for some time. I have 1989 f150 4x4 that I'm doing brakes on the front installing new rotors, seals, calipers and repacking bearings. My problem is once I try to get the wheel studs seated in the new rotor's and hubs I can't get them flush with the rotor so there is a small gap between rotor and hub. I know this isn't right so how do I get them to seat all the way down? I have been hammering on them from the back side with a punch and hammer and still can't get them down. Do I need to press them in or? Thanks in advance for the advice. Rich
Well I'm not really sure on this one. But have you added nut to the bot threads in addition to hammering them. Adding a slightly tightened nut to this may help with a little more direction to the force of impact.
You may of gotten a wrong size stud also. There is very small differances between stud sizes.
I have never had to use a press. I have always used a deepwell socket over the thread and drove them with a hammer and drift/punch .
I have an 8 lug suspention and the last time I replaced a stud , it only required me to pull them down with a nut on the threads.
