Grounding strap...
Grounding strap...
I found a ground strap today in the engine compartment that is attached to the firewall directly in front of the passenger seat. The other end is not connected. Is this an engine ground strap? I could post a pic, but I'm sure most will know the strap I speak of.
It has a flat loop at the loose end I believe...so I'm guessing a bolt came loose somewhere.
Can someone tell me where it connects to?
Many thanks

If it is just above the heater box, it goes to the hood. I have the same thing and it broke in half. It is still connected on each end. It has been this way for a while. I tried to join it back together a few times but it never stayed. I don't know what it is for. Look on the hood and see if there is a rivet near that location. I was thinking about drilling out the rivet and replacing the ground strap.
Here is a pic of the strap in question...the attach point on the firewall is circled.

Now I don't see a strap to the hood...but I don't see a grounding strap to the engine either.

The strap on the hood is by the hinge not to be confused with the spring. You can barely see it in you picture. It looks like your hood strap is attached. The strap in your picture that is not connected to anything goes on the bolt/stud on the bracket between the exhaust manifold and the upper intake.
I agree...based on the size of the eyelet, it should connect to a bolt on the intake manifold.
