Rear Leaf Question

Can I remove the "rebound" clips as seen in the pictures? Will it effect anything? When I added my AAL it was and still it a bit too long and has been resting on the "bolt" that holds the rebound clips on. I am tired of trying to keep it squeak free with lithium grease. Any help is appreiciated. I really dont feel like taking it all back apart to try and cut 1/4 inch off the length of the AAL.

Looking at my sky jacker add a leaf mine stops about an inch before the clip front and rear. I really think your going to have to adjust the length of your add a leaf (shorter of course) to keep it from rubbing. Sorry I don't know of any short cut. BTW I have never had any squeaking in my rear leafs. BWEP

Ahhh that is exactly what I didnt want to hear. Its an Autospring AAL and I think the squeaking is coming from it rubbing on that clip... It has actually worn down half of the "bolt" head.

I was just hoping I could take that rebound clip off with a grinder.

I dont recall seeing a part # stamped on the AAL, but I do know that the instructions that came with them were correct.

Yea I read that elsewhere on the internet after I posted. Thanks.

Thanks guys. Well maybe someone with a Autospring AAL will chime in and let me know if they are the same as theirs. I have had them installed for like 16k miles and dont have any problems to speak of, I am just tired of the squeak...

Well. I called autospring and talked with them. He too said they should be touching. He sent me some more clips (for free, which was really nice), I cut the factory ones off, ground the rivet flush, and put the new ones on and the squeak is gone.

Its almost like a new truck...I was having the equivalent to a squeaking door everytime I would start or stop, but not anymore.

Yes. My Add A Leaf raised the rear roughly 1.5 inches. I added it because I tow as well. But...depending on the amt. of weight you are towing, it can still squat...

Since we are on the subject, for you guys with AAL's, did they change the ride appreciably? I have an AS 2.5" leveling kit on my 2008 XLT and will be putting on a Leer cap next week. I have the trailer tow package and like the ride and stance I have now. I occasionally tow a boat and was thinking of adding an AAL to compensate for the cap/ towing. Thanks
