It's been a long time since I've posted here. Some of you old timers may remember I used to moderate this forum many moons ago. Unfortunately real life got in the way and due to a divorce I ended up having to sell all of my toys including my 79 F-250 4X4 and the Hi-Po 400 that I built for it but never got to install.
Well the good news is that the guy I sold the engine to over a year ago has been very pleased with the performance of the motor. He has to run plus but is getting 12-15 mpg after the break in. He's running it in a 78 F-150 4x4 and says that it pulls like a freight train. The Desktop Dyno work up said it was going to be in the neighborhood of 357 HP IIRC with 444 lb/ft of torque.
The build recipe was:
76 351M CF cast block bored .020
74 351C 2V Cleveland heads mild porting/polishing
stock 400 crank 10/10 grind
stock rods
9:1 Badger flat top pistons
Crower 15241 cam
Comp Cams roller rockers on Crane stud conversion
SS valves with 3 angle grind
Edelbrock Performer 400 EGR manifold
hi volume oil pump
chrome valve covers (worth at least 20 HP)
So I guess that's about it. I don't see a lot of familiar handles on the board but maybe a few of you may recall me.
Oh yeah, 1 last thing...Tim Meyers was a big part of my build and he's quality people so if you're looking to get good advice and quality parts see Tim.
Hello Bill, I'm fairly new here but nice to see another experianced 335 series guy here!! Can't wait to learn some more. Lookin' forward to tapping into some of your knowledge.
