roush 180cc on a 69 351w?

i am currently rebuilding a 69 351w, the rebuild kit says 9.4/1
with 64cc heads so i am going to go with the 180cc heads with 58cc
chambers (i think) to raise my comp. the cam max lift at .50 is
.520. anyway i want to know if these heads will work with my early style block i.e coolant passages, and poss valve clearance. any help
would be greatly appreciated

They will work, but why not use the Roush 200cc heads?

I'd say it depends on your cam, but most likely, the Roush 200 heads are supreme, especially for the bigger 351, and I own and love my set of Windsor Jr. 180's. The Windsor Jr's are the same as Roush 180's, which technically don't even exist yet, and that's strait from the mouth of the R&D team at World Castings. Go for it, the iron heads are ideal for street trucks, and no doubt equally if not better performers, plus all your accessories bolt up, and you'll enjoy the added airflow from bigger vavles, but I'd still recommend checking piston-to-valve clearance. Stay in touch, I know all the little tricks you need to get the job done, there may be a few sure, and I'm more than willing to share. (been there, done it, love the results). And Steve can point you in the right direction as far as the 351W stuff, I have a 302. Rock on!

i want to go with the 180's because of the smaller cc's the 200's
woul bring me down to 9 to1 which is prob more realistic but i am only going to use it to tow to the drag strip so why not. i was told that the coolant passages could possibly be diff since it is a early block so that was my main concern

The cooling passages all line up, you'll have no problem there. Just to make you feel better, they say that the Windsor Jr's are the best towing heads on the market. The Roush 180's are not due for at least another year, and even the guys at World told me that they're not really worth waiting for, they will be just a very slightly revised version of the Winsor Jr's, with the same 180cc chamber. (they're already the best, why worry about more?)
