service engine soon light

Hi I have a 2000 p/s with 146,000 6 speed tranny. Yesterday while stopped at a stopsign, I put the truck in first gear to start moving gave her a little throttle and the service engine soon light came on with no engine rev, just stays idleing take foot off the throttle light goes off truck idles ok, press throttle down light on again no engine rev. any ideas

Where do you live, someone close with a scanner or AE software might be in your area to see what codes are causing the SES.

Sounding an awful lot like the throttle pedal assembly to me. Check the connectors there. It is fly by wire. Unplug it and plug it back in. Try flooring it. (in neutral of course).

Good thought, Mike. IIRC the throttle pedal assembly must be replaced as an entire unit if it goes bad, and runs around $100 or so... Dieselsite sells them last I checked. If you're able to get the codes read that would be ideal, as then we could head in the right direction with some certainty.
