drive shaft lengths

is there any difference in driveshaft lengths for the swb with big block and 3 sp? i lowered the truck and bound up the shaft and need to replace it because i cannot find anyone to cut on it and replace with a shorter center to compensate for the angle/length change. i was told a minor -1" should be enough to make it right.

Highly doubt you'll find another driveshaft out of anything that will be just what you need.

Where are you located? Might be better to just ship shaft to someplace and have it done.

I agree I would ship, or take it to a reputable driveshaft shop if at all possible. I would have them cut, balance, and install new u-joints all at once. Lower the truck to ride hieght and measure form the tranny rear end seal to the pinion that should give them the needed dimensions.

I am haveing a shaft made right now at my local shop (who does awsome work by the way) and they are only charging me $225 for a complete new shaft flange to yoke.

I used Joint and Clutch in Charlotte, NC a few years ago when I swapped from 3-spd to the 4-spd. I reused the old yoke. I sent them my shaft and the length from the end of the output shaft on the trans to the face on the yoke at the diff. It was $100.00 including u-joints.
