Hello guys quick question I have a 88 F150 4x4 5.0l, and I am wanting to install my Gt40p heads from my old mustang on my truck. My question is what headers can I use to make them work? I did a search on old old threads and came up pretty much empty. I hope since then some one has come up with some thing. Thanks for any and all help you can give me.
I know some one must have some info on this too share, I emailed Mac and have not got a response yet.
I do have another question I am going to rebuild a 302 for the truck is a .40 overbore too much or will that be safe? A friend has a set of pistons I can get cheap if they will work I just dont want to go to thin.
I did some google surfing and I come up mostly with the normal this may or should work answers. Would the shorty headers for the mustang work for my F150 4x4 with a 302 does any one know?
And does any one know if .40 is a safe overbore for the 302 block? Again thanks for all help any one can provide me.
When I had them on my mustang I was given a set of equal length headers with the heads. They did work "ok" but its was a pia to get the plugs out. I think I am just gonna sell these heads to a friend of mine for his fox and get some plain Gt40 heads.
I just need to know if the .40 overbore will leave my 302 block too thin or will it work out fine? Just for some extra info I am woring on a 347 stroker for the truck.
I had a 302 block rebored for my 65 mustang some years ago, and the machine shop went to .60 before asking me. I was never happy with it. There did seem to be an overheating problem, and hard starting when hot, even though all the normal adjustments and changes were made. Additionally, it had a labor knock which could not be corrected, even with an aftermarket distributor, etc. So .40 will be my limit in the future.
