5.4 vs 351

my dad has a 01 f-150.i heard somewhere that some of the earliers 5.4s were 2 valve.can anyone tell me if this is true.I plan on taking his truck tommorow and doin a little racing.Can anyone tell me my chances of winning against a 351

It is a 260hp 2V engine.

The race will come down to traction, and weight of each truck.

How did it turn out?

I'd suspect the 351 had the advantage off the line, but if the race was long enough the 5.4 would reach it's power range. At least mine doesn't seem to like running under 2k RPMs, is a scalded dog at 3k.

Too many unknown variables. Stock to stock and of comparable configuration, the 5.4 will rape the 351.

Mines the same way, even with a tuner. It really wakes up around 2500rpm.
I guess I need 4.10 gears!!

does any1 kno the specs for the 351 right before they quit making them i believe the 5.4 is 260hp and 350Ibs

210 HP, 328 LB-FT.

The 94/95 Lightning 5.8, which came with GT40 heads, tubular GT40 intake manifold, and a "marine" cam made 240 HP and 340 LB-FT.

I have 4.56 gears (and 35" tires) and I still think my old 300I6 with 4spd granny would take it off the line in second gear (first wound out at 15mph with the 3.55 gears and 31" tires).

I believe that. It's all gearing, the 4R100s 2.71:1 first gear isn't much help in getting all that mass moving.

The catch is, the I6/M5 would also eat a 351/4A's lunch out of the hole up until 30 mph or so.
