Block Decoding

Ive got a smallblock v8 that i don't know what is...i pulled the starter from it and got the code, but im not sure which one is correct because i couldn't clean the area thoroughly.

here goes

D40E-6016-6A
D40E-6016-BA
D4DE-6016-BA


i'm not sure which of these three is correct for my engine, someone please help!

It isn't any of those,
The Block always has a 6015 number.

Yours would be D4OE-6015-BA
It was cast in designed in 1974 with MANY change-ups.
Look for numbers near that look like this,> ie: * 4G25 *

I would say it is a 302.
What numbers do the heads have on them?

well, it was a low light condition. thanks for the correction, yea the casting #'s are from above the starter on the block, i'll get a good pic tomorrow and post it in my gallery and post again. when i get the engine out "by wensday evening" i'll get the #'s from the heads and lifter valley the intake casting is a D5.... not sure on the rest... thanks!
