Engine Swap

I have some questions on an engine swap. My 84 is rusting out. I have an 1985 f-250 with a 460, I would like to swap my 1984 6.9 into the 85. Anything I should know about ahead of time? I think I could just swap engines/transmission also the crossmember.

Unless the frame is rusting out on the 84, why not swap the 85 body onto the 84 frame? If you were to swap the 6.9 into the 85, you'd also have to change the wiring and fuel tanks too.

Check the radiator support out. It might be different on the diesel to accommodate the extra large radiator. You might have enough parts there to make it all work though.

The reason I was doing the swap is the bed is rusted out in spots and the lower corners of the cab are rusted through. I will take a look at the radiator support.

Yes, the diesel radiator support is taller and sticks out the bottom of the bumper.
