"95 Ranger XLT

Spotted a '95 Ranger supercab XLT at the local used car lot. Sign in the window said it has the 4.0. Two wheel drive, looks very clean with 135,000 miles. Anything special to pay attention to if I go look at it?

Wink Checking out an XLT

Hi MikeB 88,

Other than the obvious is all I have to offer: check & smell engine & trans fluids for burning, no leaks, see how the tires have worn, test drive to see if she wonders, check braking, jack it up check front end for slack, check for rot, etc and as for being more exact you'll have to wait for the next FTE batter up that has you type of vehicle.

Wish I was of more help.

Thanks for the advice. Does anyone know where these might rust out the most?

Give the rear spring shackles and hangers a good look they are known to rust out and break causing the spring to hit the bed.

Also the bottom of the radiator support where it attaches to the frame is known to rust out.

The gas tank straps are also a rust problem for that year.
