hello and can some one help me, my 2000 f-350 4x4 wont disengage on the pasanger side, the hub is on auto and so is the drivers side, the drivers side spins free but the pasanger side is tought to spin. can some one tell me whats wrong. thanks or does some one know how to get the hub off so i can see inside the hub. ro does someone have a pic diagram of the 4 wheel drive.
The hub could be stuck, but it still shouldn't take much effort to spin the wheel. Does the driveshaft spin when you spin the wheel? If so, then the hub's locked, if not you have another problem.
yes the axel spins with the wheel, i got it free i had to take the hub off and grease it so i hope it works now. now i have another problem the truck like vibrates when i go around cornors and get on the gas hard i have know idea what it is now
I noticed some of that when I had my diff rebuilt, but yours should have enough miles to be warn out. I'd still find a bit of grass/dirt and do a hard launch to see how many tires spin. If the diff is trying to lock as you corner, it will hop a little as one tire needs to travel faster than the other to make turns. If this is new and both tires spin, drain and check your rear diff fluid for metal.
Grease isn't a great lube for Hubs, it can create a vacuum and hold the hubs either locked or unlocked. I did it once, and had a lot of trouble locking my manual hubs until I cleaned most of the grease out.
I had the same problem and it was because of a bad hub vacuum seal. The auto-hubs require a vacuum signal to lock and also a vacuum signal to unlock.
I just set both my hubs to lock until I had my seal replaced under warranty. Your best choice to solve any more problems with hubs is to put on some Warn manual locking hubs. The auto-hubs are not very dependable.
