I have a 92' F-250 4X4. How come no one makes any performance parts for this engine? Im looking for rollerized valvetrain parts exhaust and intake parts and just about any thing else. Does anyone know about front alxe swaps or kits to make it a bit easier?
Well first off being a 92 the truck should be speed density, which will limit your choice of modifications "engine wise". As for adding roller rockers I think there will be a interference issue with the center bolt valve covers. I dont think anyone makes a aftermarket intake for it either. There should be headers and exhaust available however.
Yes you can change the heads to either aftermarket or early castings. However are you still planning on running injection? the fuelie intake will not bolt on the early/aftermarket heads
Since it is a speed density system I think Id just junk it, run a carb or maybe an aftermarket efi system. I havent found a ford big block kit yet maybe Holley makes one
If I recall correctly, heads from a 429 from an F-700 will bolt to our EFI 460's and still accomodate the fuel injection setup and run an RV cam. However, this is just what I've been told on this site and haven't been able to do it myself yet. As for the front axle swap, you're talking of throwing a Dana 60 under the truck? I put an 85 D60 kingpin in my truck, also a 1992 like yours. I already had 6" springs in. It was close to a direct bolt in, but I fabbed up my own track bar mount/drop bracket. It was definetly a worthwile swap. Also, there's a lot of info on the D60 swap in the 4x4 forum, good guys there.
