Spitting Up

[updated:LAST EDITED ON 30-Jun-02 AT 04:06 AM (EST)]Well I was taking a drive somewhere with a friend today and went to pass a car so I slammed the gas and flew forward in my '86 Bronco (351 HO). My engine revved pretty high. When I took my foot off the gas I hear(d) (This happens everytime I rev high) a sound that can be described as someone throwing sand into a fan. I assume this is from the exhaust leak I have. But anyway. We got to our destination (less than a minute later) and I parked and as we were walking away I hear *sisssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssss ssssssss*. I said "Wait a damn minute here. I hear something sissling in my engine" I assumed at this point it was the oil because a friend pointed out I may have an oil leak since some parts of my engine are darkend. I popped my hood and found Anti-freeze all over my alternator and some on some hoses on the otherside and towards the bottom of my engine. Does anyone have a clue what this problem is? It can't possibly be good. I don't think my engine is leaking as I've notice no blots of green anywhere where I've parked. It seems to just be spitting up. Also it seems to kind of eat the coolent. I just filled it up with it last Saturday and since I had none in my truck after I parked I filled the thing up with water and it took half a gallon of water. Anyone have a diagnoses?

Sounds to me like you may have a seeping head gasket. My truck was doing this and thats what it turned out to be. check and replace your radiator cap, just to make sure its venting properly, and check your timing also it can also cause boilover.

If he blew the head gasket, wouldn't he get a small...or LARGE amount of white smoke out the tailpipe from the coolant burning?

Another possibility is the fan pitch or blade configeration changes due to centrifical force as rpm changes and could cause either a hose or the radiator to be nicked and leak as heat and pressure increase.
