Exclamation Loud and Nasty!

I need something Loud and Nasty for '06 Ford Ranger any suggestions? I was thinking maybe cherrybombs but thought it wouldn't pass emissions in California. Guide me in the right direction!

You will have to check with your local laws, but a Flowmaster 40 series is probably as loud as they will allow.

The muffler isn't going to have an effect on emmisions, but some states require a baffled style muffler to pass inspection. I put an FM40 on my sisters 4.0l explorer and it not loud, nasty nor has any real rumble or tone to it. I'm afraid if you make it loud it will sound like a ricer with a fart can. Honestly I'd go with a more mild turbo muffler or a 50 series or similar muffler. About the loudest chambered muffler your going to get is a Cherry Bomb extreme or FM chambered race muffler (10 series I think)

Well i've been listening to sound clips and i'm not really impressed with flowmaster 40 or 50 series seems a little raspy; I do like Bassani. Well the only reason I brought up emissions is how strict the inspectors are up here in Nor-Cal. Thanks for the help guys i'll keep you informed, since i'll be working on the exhaust how bout headers? "Till next time keep it between the ditches". (Yeah I know stupid right)!

Our Wickedflow SC250 is also probably too quite for your liking. Its quieter than the 40 series. But it is straight through and can roar when you punch the throttle. But it sounds to me that you want something more akin to a glasspack. They cost a lot, but magnaflow makes a muffler that is a lot like a glasspack, except it is more durable than a glasspack because you can't blow them out.

Powerstick chambered pipes are the loudest, nastiest muffler you can get. I had to take them off my Mustang because it set off car alarms up and down my street and really aggravated the neighbors.

Actually, I've heard from some reputable sources that Aero mufflers are the loudest, I would be interested in seeing some sound comparison. Aero mufflers are expensive.

hmmm... maybe be the first person to swap in a bbf and go with straight pipes. that would be loud and nasty... ok back to reality here, i dont think the flowmasters are gunna be good for your app, actually any kind of chambered muffler could give you a ricey sound... on that note i would go with a short glass pack. It wont be raspy like a glass pack on a v8 would be. But should give a nice tone and maybe even some rumble. My only expierence with small engines and glass packs is a mazda i had, and a cheapo glass pack i had layin around, got bored got glass pack installed and was suprised actually gave it a little bit of a rumble, and didnt have a horrible drone either, i cut the muffler out and replaced the muffler with the g.p. left the resonator and the cat in. just my 2 cents.

A GP will probably sound just as bad as a Flomaster. A small engine makes too many high frequency noises and rasp compared to a V8.

IMO, anything you do to make that engine loud WILL also be nasty sounding. Look into some Dynomax mufflers, they can sound good on smaller engines.
