So me and the woman went to the pbr auction today. Went to bid on a ford truck, which went for a little too much for what it was, and came home with this deal.
1999 Grand Cherokee Laredo. Gonna try and resell it and make a few bucks off of it.
There was also a 2003 ford 350 crew cab long box 4x4 diesel, with 31,000km's on it, and when i was leaving, they were begging for a 15,000 bid for it, it was government surplus. I didnt see what it ended up going for but I can imagine it would have been sheap too!
A 2003 F350 Crew long box 4x4 diesel/31,000km's if it was fairly clean and not beat up sounds like a good deal at $15,000.
Usually when I get start bidding on something like that everyone else does too.....
It was a 6 liter, so its a bit of a gamble there. It needed to be inspected they said, since it was a government vehicle it had never had license on it. It was kinda an ugly color of blue, but from my quick look it looked in good shape and whatnot.
I was thinking about throwing a bid on it too, but I didnt quite have enough cash left after the jeep purchase. Oh well, maybe next time!
Would it still have had engine warranty - they come with 5 years / 160000 kms or does the fleet vehicle status somehow negate that? There is a spot on the 6.0 forum to run an OASIS request ( all work performed under warranty on the truck ). A tell tale sign of head gasket failure is any white residue around the degas bottle or on the underside of the hood above the bottle. Just a note - for about 4 or 5 grand you can do the gaskets, add ARP headstuds, and do all the EGR blocking. The newer flashes cycle the turbo vanes at idle to prevent the sticking problem so it could make for a cheap truck! Once this work is performed, I feel the package is what FORD should have delivered in the first place. Add a programmer and enjoy the turbo braking in the tow modes, the super strong tow/haul feature, and the power at whatever level you choose.
Im assuming since it was govt truck its probably plain jane XL but still pretty decent price i guess hey thats a nice jeep you snagged up there Sheldon good luck making some dough off it didnt you have a jeep cherokee before or did you sell it for the honda
I believe the 03 was unreserved but dont quote me on it. I tried finding the pbr list but im not sure where it is right now.
Yeah dustin we had an 01, pretty much the same thing only with auto four wheel drive. It had 100k on it as this one has 200k, but we sold it for 16 or 17 grand. Then we paid 12 grand (i think) for the 05 civic.
