Underhood BIRD NESTING?!?!?!?!

I took the beast to Valvoline today for a fluids change. Kid pops the hood and jumps back like he'd seen a ghost!

I got out of the truck and stepped up and lo and behold a bird had built it's nest between the fuse box and firewall on the drivers side.

Anyone else ever find one of these? Any ideas on prevention?

It's the only truck the animals feel safe in.

LOL... Well, the truck sees 80MPH on the rather occasional basis, and gets 300-400 miles a week back and forth to work. We won't talk about St. Louis' roads and all the man-sized potholes...

I WILL say this: I was underhood 4 weeks ago changing the K&N out for a cleaner one, and checking fluids and fuses. NOTHING was there! They built a friggin bird CONDO in there inside of a month!

Friend had a nest with babies in (also found by oil change guy) under the hood of his van. He left them there and parked it back at home and the parents went right on feeding them as if they had never left. He is a bird lover so he didn't mind too much.

Had a buddy who bought a duramax to tow his horses. Truck is an 02 with 20k miles. Rarely driven and sits in a barn. Rats went from the front to the back and chewed up nearly $5k worth of stuff. It stays in the garage now.

I had sparrows stuff a small hay bale between my radiator and bumper. I did put out the owl decoy and stopped the free loading.
