There is a good way to check to see if you are really getting a gallon.........just put in 10 gallons and the amount of purchase should be the amount per gallon.......just move the decimal point over.........10 gallons at $4.00 per gallon should read $40.00 on the meter.........you can check it at 5 gallons just by dividing it by 1/2 or 20.00 bucks for 5 gallons.........I do this all the time at the stations as I fill..........my Dad used to own a Chevron station and he did this all the time, checked his pumps.........used a 5 gallon measure made for this purpase........did a fast fill then a slow fill........to make sure the pumps were correct..........then you also have the state guy come around and do the same certification test.

Im sure we all know how much ten gallons cost, but how does that measure how much fuel is ACTUALLY going in the tank?
About the only thing i can think of is to mark out a gas container to EXACTLY one gallon and check with the pump.

Stations that cheat don't usially grossly over do. 5% less is not that noticable but will make alot of $$ in the long run
