Question about in-cab engine light
On my '86 F-700 (8.2L detroit diesel) the engine light is always on in the cab. It doesn't flash at startup, or anything. It just comes on and stays on. I can't find anything about it in my shop manual, and have no idea why it would be on, but it sort of nags at me. Do these rigs have an OBD or OBD 2 scanner on them, or some such thing? Anyone have an idea on what the problem is, or how I can debug it?

I think those years they had a jumper to test. It's a little box that you would plug a tester to then the light would flash and it would tell you the code. Sort of like morse code or what ever it is. Most people just put a paper clip in there and then the light starts to flash. Look into it, I may be wrong with this on your but I have done it on a lot of older cars this way.
