351 windsor

im getting ready to buy a 351 windsor to rebuild and put in my 70 pickup. whats the easiest way to determine if its a 351w and the year it was manufactured?

I know that the valve covers have 6 bolts, and as for the date... You can take the intake off, and look on the casting

351 windsor

Early 351W's ( '69 to '74? ) have four extra intake manifold bolts just inboard of the outermost ones by the water passages. Later ones don't have the extra bolts so they look similar to the smaller Windsors.
