1993 F150 4WD, 302 with AOD, 120,000 miles, everything original, including the owner. Trans filter changed frequently. Last night shifter felt strange, and was difficult to shift in one direction - the direction toward Park. Today the shifter feels strange and will not go into Park whatsoever. There is likely something I should have been lubricating over the years that has now failed. I am digging out my Haynes. Any advice would be very much appreciated.
aluminum steering shaft probably broke that sits on top of the steering column that is if the shifter feels sloppy or it could be the park pall inside the transmission
Have you looked underneath to see if by chance something might have gotten lodged up in the linkage area? I noticed that your F150 was a 4X4. This happened to me once and it turned out to be a branch that had gotten caught up in the linkage. Good luck!
Yes, thanks. There is nothing I can see external to the transmission that looks out of place or broken. Now that I have time I will drop the pan and see if anything there looks peculiar. Maybe there will be pieces in the pan; I still remember scratching my head over the filler tube plug that I found 15 years ago the first time I changed the transmission filter.
