Hey everybody, I just purchased a hpop for my 99(early99) ford e-350 super duty van 7.3 diesel. The pump is the later 99 pump. I found on 7point3 the hpop removal/install write up. In the write up they said the two little springs that are located by the hoses at the pump body ,that you do not need to put them back in since it does not help for bleed back. If you remove them it will help on restriction. Just wondering what you think?
Thanks / Bryce
They do not need to be there, just a restriction. I'd take them out. Good luck replacing that
When I work on the van I do curse at it, but with this projest with the turbo off from the back of the motor (dog house off) not to bad, pulled it out tonight. When I put the pump in do I need to add oil in any areas in the pump or anywhere elese?

There is a rectangular reservoir that is in front of, and above the HPOP. On the driver's side there is a plug, remove it. Fill with oil (about ~1 qt. so its 1/2" from the top. Make sure to plug it too!

Is this the one that has a sensor on the cap (allen plug on driver side and sensor on passenger)? What do you mean by plug it to (saying put the plug back in)? Thanks
Correct. Yes, once the engine is running it's under normal oil pressure. Dont want an oil geyser!
Right on!!!!! Just wanted to say thanks kris and all the others that helped me with all the questions about the van project. With the help I got, I did the ccv mod, got rid of the ebpv (got the flange welded)ordered a new hpop(late 99),d66 turbo(leaving it pre 99) and just talked to dp about settings(when he calls back I will order). Thanks again.....

Let me know how that D66 goes. I put a set of stage one 160ccs in the 95 dump over the winter, hauling some heavy loads just yesterday i could easily pass 1500 in 60t, looking to do an IC and a D66 or upgrade to a ATS/van turbo with bellowed pipes.

Sure thing, the long term goal for this is to try to keep the temps cooler when pulling. Made a home made intake (still not 100% done) had to cut the hood and make a scoop for it. Under the hood is just so tight for any thing. Used 4" aluminum got rid of big black box. The intercooler, just don't know if it can be done. Looks like it would have to come down on driver by tranny, then under to the front(under front bumper). Injectors and IC maybe next winter. Depends on money..
