autoenginuity scanner question

OK, I am 51 and mostly computer 'tupid but the idea of watching what my PS diesel is doing right or wrong while going down the road is pretty interesting and while $400 is indeed a bunch of money how much do we spend guessing our problems sometimes? I know how much I have spent guessing on my 97SD missing problem. Anyway, This Autoenginuity scanner tool (link provided) looks like a diskete and a cord. My daughter has a big time memory laptop that she assure me will run anything. So I buy the disk and install it (daughter), then plug the cord in to the socket under the dash, learn how to run the prorams and while driving down the road my daughter is going to tell me, "Dad Number 5 aint hitten",,,Right??? and I will be able to run tests like injector buzz and cylinder contributuion too,,, right??

Just wanted to get some opinions before I pull the trigger on the tool.

"Dad Number 5 aint hitten",,,
Oh if it was only that simple. AE has a pretty steep learning curve but once you know how to use it you wonder why you didn't buy it sooner. It's a great tool but like all great tools... they are only as good as the operator. BTW: It installs on a PC pretty easy so that shouldn't be a concern.

Here's a good read:
ITP Diesel, L.L.C.
They are the cheapest I've seen too. Check it out.

Sounds to me like you don't need any of us to help you out as long as you got your kid around! LOL Sorry never had a autoenginuity scanner but I can tell you are headed in the right direction. I am sure people who now more about it will help you out soon.

2X what Cuda says. Ya just gotta hook it up and play with it and with the help of your computer daughter it will all fall into place.

One thing you will need to tell AE is if the daughter's computer has a USB port. I would imagine that it does but that piece of info is needed so as to get the right cable.

I'm sorry to here that you are all of 51 years old but I have better than
20 more on you and I'm learning it. Old guys rock. LOL

you will fall in love with this machine once you have it mastered. Me? I'm still in the dating stages!!
