Inner Fender Assembly

I bought a used inner fender for my '68 F250. I was checking it over and noticed a putty like substance on the top edge where the fender would be mounted. My question is, do I need to put more of that on there during re-assembly? And where do I purchase that stuff?

It's probably seam sealer, you'll want to scrape it all off before you spot weld the new inner on the truck, then go along and put it along the edge. It'll keep water and all the gunk from getting between the panels and causing that lovely scourge called rust.

It was definately under the fender when assembled. It is completely flat and about 3/4" wide. There is no sign of spot welding done to the inner. I thought these just bolted together. The putty must be there to cushion the metal from rubbing together?

Have a 65 F100, the inner fender, and fender are assembled together thru a series of nuts and bolts. Believe the material referring to is cauling, used between metal to metal surfaces. There is also seam sealer, each has a particular purpose. There a several sources, may want to check w/ local auto body, auto paint, or auto parts suppliers, posting a few links.
