big block 54f100
I am considering putting a 460 in my 54 f100. Currently it has been mocked up with a 302 with aod. This would be a good general driver, but have moments that the big block sounds better. I think I would need to recess the firewall. I'm sure this is a common setup. How much setback has everyone used?

several of the guys on here have got 'em in there's and i dont recall seeing a recessed firewall in any of them . i was gonna put an fe in my 55 and i wasnt gonna have to recess it either after i got it all fingered out . theres all kinds of room in these girls for anything . hades when i work on my flatty in the 53 i just crawl in and stand next to it ............

I also don’t think you have to, hope not, as I am going to be putting a 460 in a 51 f1. Here are some dimensions off the net, not guaranteed of course.
Length from fan pulley to rear of oil pan;
Flathead - 30 inches; .......302 – 29in;.......... 460 - 34in
