The facts bore out when I called the LARGEST dealer of Toyota in the country. The GM told me (when I too questioned the unavailability of the model in question via the Toyota web site) explicitly that the Tundra regular cab is NOT available in 4WD nor V-8.

What dealer and who did you talk to....just so we have some credibility here..
I just e-mailed the administrator on a Tundra message board, where I threw this question out to, and he wrote me the following:
That is completely false! Toyota sells their vehicles based on your region. You might not be able to get a RC 4X4 5.7 in FLorida, but you can here...but only in Tundra grade, not limited or SR5 . Go on Toyota.com and puch in a different zip code, try 01001.
It ALL depends on WHAT zip code one punches in regarding a "build to order" on Toyota's web site. The dealer I referred to is in Nashville, TN. He told me Toyota does NOT make the truck in question. Which is true for HIM. If one punched in a different zip code, an area Toyota DOES make available this model and its options in question, one WILL get the necessary pricing. The dealer basically LIED to me. Why? I would go some where else in this country, like a zip code of 01001, to get the truck if I was that serious about buying one?
Um, I just priced one out on Toyota Canada's website.

This truck is exactly the truck I drove last year, down to the color. I just tried to build it and it is not longer possible. It was possible on the 07. I called the local Toyota dealer and goe a new guy and he is "checking it out for me".

SORRY for the confusion.
You would think a dealer would know something like that...I wonder what keeps a dealer from having one brought in from an area that does have them? I'm about 4 hours east of Nashville, and we can get them.

Well, if the dealer can get you into a more expensive Tundra....plus if he really wanted to make a sale, he would have offered to ship one in ( regular cab 4x4 with the 5.7) to you from elsewere.

He lied! I cannot build one at my zip code either but the dealer confirmed that they are available and offered to find me one. The website also lets you compare one with other models and it gives a base price. 2008 Toyota Tundra Truck trim and prices
