I have a 1995 ford f-150 with a 302 and an e4od iam not sure what specific transfer case I have. I would like to swap an 2001 lightning motor into my truck and Iam wondering if anyone has attempted this or has any idea how to accomplish it. Iam looking for motor mounts and ideas on transmission setups adapters etc.
Hope you like big projects, because that one would be a big one. The first question I would ask is why? Did someone drop off that engine on your door step? You got lucky on the year for your truck, as it should have a MAF setup, so you can do a good deal of mods to your current motor to increase the performance. I would stick with that unless you have some great need to use the lightning motor. There would be a huge amount of work to make it happen, especially if you want it to be legal on the streets.
Yes a nice big project. You will have to do a drive train swap . I'm told the newer Modular engines and trans r different so its not just the motor. Also there is the wiring changes, ecu placement and possible driveshafts to be made if not careful of engine placement As the engine tranny combo as well as the transfercase may be longer. to Be address but that may be the easy part.
Like said you should have MAF . Get some GT40 heads ,upgrade them .Cam it up longtube Headers. Shift kit in trans. The cost should still be less than the problems you run into . You truck is heavy so I'd go the 351 the 302 MAFecu will run the 351 fine.
