Ladder bars for 79
I am rebuilding my 79 F-250 4x4 and put a rear shackle flip kit on it. The stock torque bar that goes over the rear axle would need to be modified to work with the lift, but I was wondering if anybody had any suggestions on ladder bars. I was thinking that since I am building my engine up and giving it more power, that it might not be a bad idea to fab up some custom ladder bars. Does anybody on here have any pics or plans of custom ladder bars that they have already put on their truck.

Ladder bars don't work well off-road. They prevent axle articulation and make your suspension very hard as they bind between the arch they move at and the the arch the springs follow. Ladder bars were designed for drag racing and flat staight types of racing like mud boggs. A couple companies out there make traction control devices that help eliminate axle wrap and do not limit the suspension. It looks like an arm that bolts on top of your u-bolts and mounts to a pivot on the side of the frame. Depending on how much power you are making, maybe a four-link? Just food for thought.
