The problem is that the independants make up a small fraction of the trucking industry. The companies can't afford to have sitting trucks.
They have to get the companies in there to have any wieght. However, most companies with any size usually forward contract their fuel or have adjustable fuel charges.

So I guess what you are saying is we are screwed because the prices are just going to keep going up along with the cost of about everything except the working guys wages and we are going to wind up with a bigger group of people who are working but are going to be below the poverty line?!?!?!?!?!?
The problem with the strike is that their is no organization/demands/spokeperson. The only thing that is being done is increasing the awareness of how important the trucking industry is to our economy/dialy life/etc.
The thing is, you park you truck, decline a load or whatever, they will find someone else to haul that load. There will always be somebody out there that will haul it for a few dollars less.

I agree 100%. those are the people that need a good hard shaking in life. problem is its the large companies. there operating cost are so low they can make $7 off one load. when its spread over 300 trucks they make good change.
Dab Nabit, where's Jimmy Hoffa when ya really need him??? If jimmy was around heads would roll and other things would get done and the prices would fall.
Yea Kawa where are they when you need them. Where are our union leaders our political leaders, where are the people with the ***** and brains to get things done, the people that are supposed to be looking out for us and getting rich NOT doing that for us! I say skip the candy *** strike and go right to the revolution because this hole thing is a joke! The way they are letting us get the shaft.
