302 Flywheel

[updated:LAST EDITED ON 30-Aug-02 AT 05:42 PM (EST)]I am replacing a 289 in from a '73 Bronco with an '83 302. My question is, can the 302 run the flywheel from the 289? The 302 was connected to a manual 4 speed, and I need it to work with a C4. Do I need to find a new flywheel?

In short, no.

Your '83 302 has an imbalance of 50oz. The 289 has an imbalance of 28.2oz.

Also, automatics use flexplates not flywheels.
