Big decision?Need expert ford advice.

I am about to buy a set of rubbers and my buddy trades his 250 for the new SALENE 150.So he pulls his BRAND new moto metal rims and a nice set of tires along with some other goodies off to sell. cuts me a killer deal.the problem is his 17" moto metal . my factory 18", whats this change going to look like? I have 275/70/18, he has 285/70/17 thier pretty close. and his tires are a 8 ply mine are 10 ply would this be something to consider idont really tow alot.

The new set up will probably have a little taller sidewall profile and actually look like a little bigger tire due to the slightly smaller rim. I just went the other way from 17 to 18 with similar size tires. Not tons of difference. I love my Moto Metals though!!!

Check to make sure the smaller rims aren't going to hit on the brake calipers. They are factory 18's for a reason.

IMO...I would pass on the deal. Because going from 18" to 17" on the wheel, but more so on the Load Range D tire.

If your SD is a '05+, then you should be fine with a 17" tire...as that is the standard size on the XLT, XL, etc.

Just not used to going backwards when making "Upgrades". Just my .02.
