Just the other day I started my truck and heard what I would describe as a large bowl or rice crispy’s coming from my engine area. I opened the hood, and can't quite pin point what it is. I have come to a conclusion that it is either the alternator or the power steering pump, or power steering pump pulley. I can tell you that it is on the alternator side of the engine and in the front. Any suggestions? <?xml:namespace prefix = o ns = "urn:schemas-microsoft-comfficeffice" /><o></o> <o></o> Also, since I have replaced my GPR, I have noticed some white smoke for a few seconds after it turns over. Normal?<o></o>

You should pull the belt off and check the pulleys. And give the belt a good look while its off. While the belt is off start the truck for a quick check to see if the noise is still there. If the noise is gone then it is the belt or something driven by it. If the noise is still there it is not the belt or anything it drives. The old process of elimination. Hope you find the problem.
