sorry it took about a month. haha.
ok i finally got pics.. it took me a while o get it the perfect length and then straight...
but im done... somewhat.
there is still a lack of d-shackles.. and endcaps.
but the endcaps wont be a problem i like how it is now.
my build materials and cost:
(2) 3"x78" pipes.......................... FREE
(1) 4"x78" 1/4inch plate............... FREE
(2) cans black gloss Rustoleum...... $8.27
i just measured, centered, welded slowly, cut off old bumper
i used the existing bumper brackets and notch them at the bottom to
fit around the pipes. when i got it on and centered i tached and then fully welded the bumper to brackets.
the bumper was too wide in the beginning so i cut it down to even with the fenders. i grinded the edges smooth and used a plasma cutter for the liscense plate holes. i tapped new holes for the liscense plate and screwed em in with 1/4 inch bolts. i then took it all apart and put 2 good coats of rattle can black... tough, looks a hell of lot better than i thought it would,
and fully functional.
thats all i could take.. i was stressed for time and the only person around when i was workin was me.
my shop gets lonely during school days..all my buddies are still in high school so when i skip a couple days to work on my truck theres no help.
yeah i thought you were building a front bumper, thats ok for a back bumper, i would have went about it differently than that but not as bad as i thoguht from those first pics
I thought it was a front bumper at first too...
Not bad, simple design, functional, not to bad looking for a rear bumper.
A good easy project to work on fab skills...
