How do I ....

Okay, I have the "low oil pressure at idle after warm-up" problem I've seen numerous times here. I have replaced the sending unit and gone to 20W50 oil in my used 5.8L '89 F150 w/ 165K miles, but the problem persists. I've also seen were people recommend pulling the pan to either replace the oil pump, clean out the screen and/or replace the bearings. I've seen where this is acomplished by either raising the engine or removing the exhaust pipes. Now, it looks like the exhaust pipe has been cut in the past and soldered back together just behind the oil pan! I guess this is a good indication that someone worked on the lower part of the engine in the past, yes? Anyway, can someone give me DETAILED step-by-step instructions for pulling the pan and replacing the bearings? Aren't the bearings just the "U" shaped clamps that hold the crank shaft in place against the bottom of the block? Must the crankshaft be dropped down and something along the cut-out areas where it makes contact with the block be replaced too?
BIG THANKS!!!!!!

Jim in Ga.
