I was wandering who on here has installed after market exhaust on a Crew Cab with the 6.5' bed? I did a little research and couldn't find any info on this, everyone seems to have the 5.5' bed. I also sent Magnaflow the same question because I didn't see the 6.5' bed option on their site and they never responded.
Also, has anyone just installed the Muffler only? What type did you use? I was considering the Magnaflow Muffler and Stainless tip.
Ya I hated the fact that I could not hear my exhaust when it was stock(I have the 5.4L) and it sounded like my wifes 4 banger car so I had asked the same question and yes you can swap the muffler! I went with at first the 50 series delta flow FM and it was to quiet so my friend who has a Expy with the 5.4L pulls up to my home with a Super 44 muffler and I was at the muffler shop the next day to swap the 50 series for the Super 44, I dont have to stomp on the gas to hear my exhaust like with the 50 series and also with the Magnaflows, I wasn't getting any good gas mileage that way, now with the Super 44 I have a 3 mpg gain as I hear the throaty rumble with not having to stomp the gas pedal! I like it , some like it quiet, you have to decide, have fun.
My Maggie Kit 16614 came with 2 different lengths of pipe for the conversion from stock pipe to their pipe. a 18" and 1 that was longer. Since my bed is the 5.5', I used the smaller section. I'm thinking the longer section was for the 6.5' bed. Make sure Magnaflow confirms this though.
the stock muffler is freakin' huge, but an aftermarket will work just fine after some make-up pipe is used (about 2 feet worth). If you're looking to go this route, I suggest you get the Magnaflow Magnapack muffler. It's shaped like the old Cherry Bomb mufflers. I have them on my Mustang GT and I can set off car alarms without trying. a rev to 1000 rpm usually does the trick. eBay usually has them for about $50 or so.

I don't have to stomp the gas to hear my Maggie. I don't know what Maggie exhausts you have been hearing

never heard of the magnapack muffler might have looked into that one especially if it's (50 dollars) and rumbles at idle and cruising speed, but Some F-150 owners in my town got Magnaflows and there quiet they say you got to stomp the pedal to hear it and idle theres really nothing a little better then stock but quiet as our 4 cats absorb the sound alot. I also thought we were talking trucks your talking about your Mustang Gt It should be loud and setting off alarms, haven't heard a Magnaflow on F-150's set any alarms off.

The Magnapack is made specifically for the Muscle cars. They have a little disclaimer that talks about it being the loudest muffler you can get from them. A nice 3" or 3.5" tip will also greatly help get some noise.
eBay's prices seem to have gone up slightly...but you can still get them for fairly cheap
my SIDO ain't exactly loud, but you can hear it at idle and people in cars with their windows up can hear me driving around town...it roars when you get on it
yeah, I've heard some guys have gotten the exhaust louder by cutting the back 2 off...but I personally won't
I bought the Magnaflow #16614 for my truck originally. It impressed me so much that I bought the Magnapack kit for my Mustang GT. The truck can set off alarms if it's pointed at cars, but the Mustang does it just by being within 20 feet or so.
I was under my 08 and it seems that it is not easy to just put a muffler on the truck. The bends to the stock muffler are very tight and close.I guess if you work for a muffler shop it is just some bends here and there. I think I am going to look into a catback from Magnaflow.
