ok f150 88 144000 kilometers auto 4.9 3.55 gears 2wd no idea tranny
had garage do compression check .In the last 10 years trucks done about 20,000km Ihave a stumble when driving at around 50-70 km fuel pressure is good.Tune up plugs, cap, wires, rotor, filter, all needed to be done plugs might have been original lol.Injectors cleaned. And tps cleaned. heres the compression test what do you think
Numbers 3 and 6 would have me concerned. Since the wet test brought them up the most, I would suspect rings. This could also be an indicator of the head gasket getting ready to go out.
I would put a quart of Marvel Mystery Oil in the oil and run it for a while. Then check the compression again. This stuff works wonders for freeing up stuck rings. Here is their site:
no believe it or not its not that hard an inexperienced driver would not notice it Im sure . It idles not that bad when you pull away from light you some times have to tremble your foot on gas so it does not stall but not all the time. But when you start it let it warm up stick it in gear it dies.Starts right up and goes
Arguably 3-6 are all weak...with 3 and 6 being severe. It should never be beneath 100 PSI and all should be within 80% of the highest number. With #1 being at 150, the other should at 120 or better. Or 132 wet given the 165 wet reading on #1. Also, since the wet test did improve your numbers and brought the low numbers closer to the higher reading, I too am thinking rings.
Has the problem gotten gradually worse, or was it all of a sudden. If all of a sudden, it could be a failing head gasket. Even a worsening condition could point to a head gasket. Any oil in the coolant? Discoloration of oil?
Animalistic makes a good recommendation in adding marvel mystery oil to the crank. Seafoam added to the crank and through the injectors would also do the trick.
lol plug wires are good.I found out today that walmart or napa carry the oil up here in montreal, canada I will stop in and pick one up.I have only had the truck 2 months oil is good rad level is staying put.The last 10yrs the truck has only done 8000km.The garage left some stuff in there over nite to see if he could free it up.But other than the low compression the truck runs really good now.Just a slite miss on the idle now.But I will give the oil a shot and recheck the compression
