hi
i have a 56 and just installed a smooth firewall. what wiper motor
would be best under the dash? truck will have a/c small unit from
southern air
thanks
tom
Since the 56 originally had the wiper motor outside on the firewall you will probably have to fab some brackets for mounting under the dash. I would think any 12v wiper motor is a possible but others on here have used Jeep but I don't recall if they relocated under the dash. Newport Engineering also makes aftermarket wiper motors which you could adapt. You might want to visit your local salvage yard and see what is available size wise that you could adapt.
Welcome to the forum. The members here are the best source of information and advice I have ever seen. If you are also into doing some mods to your truck you really need to check out some of these guys galleries. When you get a chance also add your location to your profile.
For about $300. there is a kit from "No Limit Eng." It comes with a remote mount wiper motor that lets you mount it inside the kick panel on either side. It features 2 speeds, and intermittent modes. It is what I used and I,m very pleased with it, although it is a little expensive. I believe it is manufactured by "specialty power windows".
If you want to use the 84-91 Jeep Cherokee wiper motor with 53-55 F100 linkage, go to the gallery of the member COWMAN and check it out. Very easy to adapt the Cherokee wiper motor to the F100 linkage. Grab the delay module when you grab to motor....Chuck Cowman's gallery even gives you wiring instructions.
Newport Engineering makes a (apparently) top quality aftermarket wiper assembly. The Detail Zone and others carry Newport's stuff.
