.693" lift is a ****in nasty cam for a 393 whatever chebby. The bad thing is it probably doesnt begin to make power until 3500rpm+. Its his compression that forces him to run race fuel though. Probably with iron heads hes in the 10.2 -10.5: range on 100 oct Alum heads maybe 11:1. Something must not be right for the HP level to be at 400.
By comparison thats a higher lift cam than I have picked out for my 545 build. The larger CI can soak up a radical cam much better than his POS engine ever could.

it sounds to me like this guy threw whatever he had laying around his trailer into this truck. which by all means is ok to a point, thats what started muscle cars and mud trucks and everything in between. but to mix ford and chevy is a big big no no to me.
Expecially when you go to shows and see a bunch of Fords, you get over too look at them and there is a damm cheby motor between the frame rails and 90% of the time its a 350.
I hate the cheby in a ford. A sweet 32 ford coupe pulled up to a car show, slammed with a giant blower out the hood. Walked over to it, and a bright orange block the the distributer rammed under the firerwall......
