Need help, what's the difference?

I'm sorry about the cross post, but I guess my question more pertains to Engines than my 85 F-150, even though it concerns both.

What is the difference between the intakes on an EFI 302 in a car and an EFI intake in a truck. I know the trucks intake has rectangle holes and the plenum is taller and the intake on the car has circlular holes that are staggered and the plenum is shorter. For example, compare an F-150's intake and plenum to a mustangs intake and plenum, they are way different. A friend of mine is trying to get me to buy off on the idea that you can throw a mustang motor into an F-150 and get the same amount of torque and horsepower as you can get off a high rise intake like that in the truck. If he's right, why are the two different, and I can't imagine it's only because the truck has more room to have the high intake. Ford had to have a distinct reason for using (and still is using) two different intakes and plenums on the two types of vehicles.
If anyone has any info about this and maybe some hard facts to prove the difference or likenesses, I would most appreciate it. I always thought the trucks intake provided more torque at lower RPM's than the mustang because you would want more torque in a mustang at higher RPM's? Am I close?

Yeah, I think you have it right. I seem to recall reading an article about the very same subject. The longer runners are better torque performers, while short runners are used for horsepower and higher revs. Their are even some SUVs that have duel plane manifolds. They have a valve built into the manifold that can add length to the runners for more torque, and can close off the longer runners for better acceleration.

Thanks for reassuring me that I haven't totally lost it. The dual plane runners sound interesting, I'd like to find out more about that, thanks for the info.

Need help, what's the difference?

Would anyone know where I could get any info on the differences between a truck EFI and a cars EFI. It's kind of hard to find the info on stuff like that, or to even find a breakdown of it. I'm sure that a trucks intake is designed to produce higher torque at a lower RPM but I can't find anything concrete. Any help that points me in the right direction would be most appreciated. Thanks
