C6 questions.
are all C6 trannys the same internaly? The reason i ask is,I have a 74 C6 with 4x4 with a FE bolt pattern that is very shot.I also have a 78 4x4 with the 351 bolt pattern that has less than 3000 miles on it. What i want to do is have the cases swaped.

I don't know if they are all the same but I took my C6 from my 75 4X4 that had a 360 I had changed to a 460 and swapped all the guts with a 77 car LTD C6 that had a 400, Same as a 460 bolt pattern and it worked great. All I knoticed was the center shafts were different length.

for that application, you should be fine. a $40 gasket set and a case of typeF and you are set.
Lincoln/T-bird/F-500 have differences, but useable, shouldnt be an issue for you.
the 78 may have a different shifter detent spring assy, you should be able to use your 74 valve body if you clean it out if that is the case.
