Im looking to replace the 285/75/16 BFG ATs that my 2000 f250 came with. i think i want to go with some mud terrains but i pull a 15000 lbs gooseneck horsetrailer everyother weekend and need to handle the weight. I still like to play when the trailers not hooked up and the BFG AT dont really impress me. I was thinking a 305 would spread my front end weight out a little better too. My back end stays on top of soft ground but the PSD makes the front cut in pretty bad. Anyone know of load range e tires in those sizes or a load range d with 3400+ lbs rating?
I run the 315/65R18 Pro Comp Extreme A/t's on my 05 SD. I know it's not a true "mud terrain", but if you are concerned with the street manners and load capability, then these do the trick! I also tow a lot and take my truck in the snow (it's also used as my plow truck) and mud (believe it or not, I use it when I go hunting down at the farm). They handle great on road, are a load range E tire, and take what I give it off road. Granted, I don't mud bog the truck or take it through big swamps (that's what the 150 is for!!), but I do use it as a truck!
i do hate you, no jk, but i think everyone nkows how i feel about the mud grapplers, if hes going to be towin a horsetrailer alot then hes going to also want a tire that wont wear out very quick, i dont care what you say, i have never seen or heard of a mud grappler gettin good mileage and tread wear, so unless hes towin it constantly on a dirt road, haha ya right, then the mud grapplers are not the right tire for him, plus they just plain suck hahah
i'm running 37" SSR's and as i dont tow 15K every other weekend i do occasionally haul our NH LS180 skid steer and implements to our mountain property 150 miles away with no issue. just pump them up!
The real issue is that the tire noise is not going to make the horses happy
I dont think the hosres will care to much.... if they can hear the tires over the straight pipe oh well. The trailer is a Sundowner 3H with living quarters and its insulated so they should be bothered.
